A trip to Maine, June 19th 2004
Perhaps the most difficult part of seaplane flying isn't really the flying, but rather the 'sailing' part.
Coming into shore one has to be ready to cut the throttle, jump out on the float and then moore the plane. Since this was my first lesson, I got to sit snuggly in my seat while the instructor, Stephan, did all the acrobatics required to get out of the Piper, onto the float, jump onto the landing and moore the plane. While on the lake we had to navigate together with all the pleasure boats; Navigare necesse est.
